Germany, Austria, Switzerland – Travel Letter 2: „VIENNA“
“Vienna is not only worth the trip, but also a few minor sins.” Dear Konstantin, I am writing to you about my first stop on my journey: Vienna! Are you all well? Even though I’ve only been on the road for two days, I already miss my family and especially you! So yesterday I landed at Vienna International Airport and then took the train to the center of Vienna. As you probably know, Vienna is the capital of Austria with over 1.8 million inhabitants and is characterized by buildings from the Wilhelminian era, Baroque and Art Nouveau. As the imperial capital and residence of the Austrian Empire, Vienna was one of the cultural and political centers of Europe in the 19th century. Like Kärntner Strasse and Kohlmarkt, the so-called Graben is a luxurious shopping mile in the city. But don’t worry – I haven’t bought any expensive designer clothes yet!…

Dear Eva, I was very happy about your last letter and of course I thank you very much for your invitation! I now work for a large company in the capital and think that a few weeks vacation would be good for me. I also asked my boss and he spontaneously gave me three weeks off, so that I can visit you. I will be happy to take the time to look at your city of Vienna and also Salzburg. I don’t just want to visit Austria, I also want to spend a week in Germany! I would love to go to Munich and Berlin one day. If possible, I would like to travel to Switzerland too! I’m really…
Quick workstation & quick studying time
Managing Time & Workstation: Look at your workstation critically. This place should be primarily reserved for studying. Turn interference factors off and throw unnecessary stuff into the wastebasket. Find the optimal time of day for you to study! By studying with an eye on the clock, you also learn to assess your time!
Don’t study ‟during the whole day” but pay attention to taking breaks in between the studying period. Never study longer than 50 minutes straight, otherwise you will overexert yourself! When memorizing vocabulary or simple sentence structures, I would generally recommend the 20/20/20 Method: Learn 20 minutes – relax for 20 minutes and then repeat 20 minutes. Go through this process twice to three times per day! Reward yourself with movement, fresh air, and healthy snacks, meals and drinks during your short, studying breaks (see below)! At first, begin with the easy subjects, so that you can warm yourself up and prepare for the more difficult tasks! Don´t worry, the content of the book will show you how easy also more difficult matters will appear to you soon!
